About This Service

Vinyl plank flooring — marketed as durable, waterproof, and virtually maintenance-free — is one of the most complaint-generating flooring categories we inspect. Buckling, joint separation, adhesive failure, and surface wear issues are consistently among the most common reports we receive.

My Floor Inspection provides independent, certified vinyl and LVP flooring inspections throughout Southern California — from Los Angeles to San Diego, Orange County, and the Inland Empire. Our evaluations are conducted using calibrated instruments and documented against manufacturer specifications, ASTM standards, and applicable industry guidelines.

What This Inspection Covers

Joint separation and locking mechanism evaluation
Adhesive bond integrity for glue-down systems
Expansion gap measurement at all perimeters
Subfloor flatness per manufacturer specifications
Moisture content of subfloor and substrate
Thermal expansion pattern analysis
Installation compliance review
Written inspection report with findings

Issues & Disputes We Resolve

›Buckling and dramatic lifting from expansion
›Joint separation and click-lock failure
›Adhesive failure in glue-down vinyl
›Subfloor flatness violations
›Moisture-related subfloor damage
›Manufacturer warranty disputes
›Insurance and legal documentation

Why It Matters

Vinyl and LVP manufacturers consistently deny warranty claims by attributing failures to installation error — even when the failure results from product defects. An independent certified inspection is the only objective way to establish the actual cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is vinyl floor buckling always an installation error?

No. While inadequate expansion gaps are the most common cause, vinyl buckling can also result from manufacturing defects in the locking profile, heat-related product performance failures, or subfloor conditions that the manufacturer should have addressed in their specification. A certified inspection establishes the cause.

Does SPC flooring need moisture testing?

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) itself is waterproof, but that does not mean moisture testing is unnecessary. Excessive moisture beneath SPC can destroy adhesive bonds in glue-down applications, warp underlayment layers, and damage wood subfloors. Moisture assessment is always part of a thorough vinyl floor inspection.
